Dr. Cliff Honnas, Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons, received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1984 from Colorado State University. He subsequently completed a one-year internship in Large Animal Medicine and Surgery at Texas A&M University, followed by a three-year residency in Equine Surgery at the University of California — Davis, California. In 1988, he relocated to Baton Rouge, Louisiana where he taught Equine Surgery at Louisiana State University. While at LSU, he became board certified in Equine Surgery. In 1989, he and his family moved to College Station, Texas to work at Texas A&M University as an Equine Orthopedic Surgeon. Dr. Honnas practiced at Texas A&M University for 19 years, and was a tenured full professor. Dr. Honnas opened up Texas Equine Hospital January 2009, where they employ 7 veterinarians and specialize in equine sports medicine and surgery. Cliff has become well known worldwide for his “Kissing Spine” surgery. In his free time he loves raising cattle and has a new YouTube channel on Regenerative Ranching.
